Stuff that needs doing ASAP before I can do much else:
Subrooms (1 layer)-- done!Eat fruits to grow-- done!- Infinite outward recursion -- still finding this very confusing and difficult
Z to undo-- done!
The more I think about this idea the more appealing NPC dialogue sounds: the (n+1)th heads teaching the nth heads about the void/undoing, a blissfully unaware lil guy in a subroom who's alarmed by your entry, etc. Maybe the dialogue boxes can be rendered recursively too. Maybe the voice sfx can be large chords (i.e, "recursive"). Maybe the small NPCs are also universes. Maybe the void itself is an NPC!
I'm first going to see if I can make this an exploration-based adventure, because the concept of eating fruits to unlock new areas is so amazingly natural (and the idea of levels doesn't make a great deal of sense in this game). If that doesn't end up yielding enough scope perhaps NPCs can act as enterable universes with quests, or there could be other playable characters.
It's possible to move backwards (e.g. left while facing right) in certain positions in this build - I'm not sure if it should be and it feels and looks very weird. Please let me know what you think about this specifically if you test it!
